Jellycat has an exciting opportunity for a hybrid Payroll Specialist role to join our growing Finance Team. The role currently reports to the VP of Finance with a dotted line to the Director of Human Resources.
You'll be:
- Managing and successfully processing accurate bi-weekly payroll cycles for the US and bi-monthly cycles for Canada
- Verifying timekeeping records and ensure accuracy of hours worked, overtime, bonuses, and other compensation elements
- Conducting payroll compliance checks to ensure employees are paid accurately.
- Ensuring accuracy in data entry and payroll calculations through audits while maintaining confidential payroll records
- Staying updated on federal and multi-state labor laws and regulations related to payroll to ensure company compliance
- Setting up and manage out-of-state employee payroll taxes
- Addressing employee inquiries related to payroll, tax withholdings, and other deductions promptly and professionally
- Providing a high level of confidential customer service to internal and external customers
- Generating and maintain payroll reports, payroll-related forms and documentation
- Creating accounting entries relating to payroll and working with financial control team to maintain control account reconciliations
- Providing Finance business partnering for the HR department including budget setting and management in collaboration with VP Finance
- Assist in Collections: Work with the collections team to follow up on overdue accounts, credit note reconciliation, and escalating when necessary to ensure timely payment
- Providing support with designated suppliers on AP and providing accounting support as agreed to support the financial control team
- Assist in processing purchase invoices and preparing all payment runs
- Supporting with year-end audits
- Training operational teams on GL coding
You'll have:
- Associates degree with 2 years’ experience while using a full-service payroll processing system (ADP, etc.) or equivalent experience required
- Multi-state payroll processing experience required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Apply logical thought processes and organize resources to solve issues and meet commitments
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow
- Strong communication and collaboration skills required
- Ability to work in a high-growth environment, requiring flexibility and adaptability
- High levels of discretion and confidentiality in all dealings within the organization
- Proficient in Microsoft office, especially Excel
- Proficient knowledge of ADP Work Force Now and Time & Attendance, or applicable experience
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to always meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
