Recently introducing CGI technology to social media platforms has enabled us to bring our characters and their personalities to life. In turn this has meant we have rapidly extended our global Social Media audience to 1.3M followers with an impressive 8% engagement rate, and yet only launching Insta in July ‘22 and TikTok in Feb ’23.
Our fans and consumers are at the heart of everything we do. In September 2023 we embarked on bringing excitement to retail and launched the Jellycat Diner Experience' in partnership with FAO Schwarz in NYC, offering a unique retail experience, creating the look and feel of a real NYC Diner.
A place where theatrically trained staff serve and wrap your Amuseables Waffle, Pancakes Salmon Bagel to-go, along with special luxury Jellycat personalized packaging and branded extras that are only available in-store!
This success fueled our ambition to create more unforgettable retail moments worldwide, including long term pop-ups in Paris [The Jellycat Patisserie at FAO Galleries Lafayette] and in London [The Jellycat Fish & Chips at Selfridges London] where we achieving record-breaking sales, with much more to come!
With viral activations and new collections, Jellycat has generated over 35M impressions this year alone, continuing to inspire and delight our global audience.
Role and Scope:
The ‘Retail Operations and Event Manager’ role is accountable for ensuring that all of our Jellycat Retail ‘Experiences’, Shop-in-Shops, Pop-ups activations and branded spaces are operating and at a consistently high level and are representative of our Luxury Brand positioning that our fans. This will be possible by building strong relationships with the key teams in the store to ensure everyone working with Jellycat has pride in elevating the consumer experience at all touchpoints with the brand. Jellycat is a emotionally connective brand, and we strive to deliver excellence at every point in which we connect with the fans and the consumers, whether this is a full theatrical experience at Selfridges, London through to a small independent store in a local village
Becoming immersed in the brand expression, and the global expectations of in-store execution will be a priority. This role is not only maintenance of current footprints, but involvement in new, exciting roll-out plans, as the creative design team hand over to you and the sales team on go-live – that is where the real work begins as we move into hyper-care and then transition to ‘business as usual’.
You will be required to build business plans for new initiatives, where you will provide full details and work alongside the commercial finance team to deliver the ROI detail, and with sales teams on the sales projections as you collaborate to build out the P&L for the branded activation.
It’s imperative that you enjoy being out in retail, and thrive under an incredibly fast paced organization, can deliver on rigid deadlines – routine cannot be something you crave.
There may be times when you're asked to work evenings or weekends depending on project launch schedules. Any extra time worked will be eligible for equivalent time off.
You'll be:
Retail Operations:
- Overseeing partner projects to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of Jellycat activations, including inventory management, merchandising, and relationship management
- Training and engaging retail staff to deliver excellent customer service and ensure efficient operations
- Maintaining high standards of customer service to ensure a positive in-store experience—every detail matters
- Overseeing budgets, building and submitting financial business cases, and managing project spend and aftercare when applicable
- Presenting financial outcomes, product analysis, project updates, and key learnings to the business to ensure world-class activations and events
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and health and safety standards
Events Management:
- Managing event budgets, negotiating with vendors, and ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining high event quality
- Coordinating with vendors, external partners, and sponsors to ensure successful event execution
- Collaborating with the marketing team to promote events via social media, email campaigns, and other marketing channels—including internal communications
- Overseeing all aspects of event execution, including logistics, setup, staffing, and breakdown, to ensure seamless operations
- Conducting post-event evaluations, including gathering customer feedback, assessing financial performance, and providing recommendations for improvement
You'll have:
- The ability to travel both domestically and internationally—travel expected to be approximately 30%
- A demonstrated track record in a similar role, ideally within a luxury brand environment
- 3–5 years of experience in retail management and/or event planning (leadership experience is a plus)
- The ability to engage, motivate, and inspire teams to deliver on goals—even when they do not report directly to you or work for Jellycat
- Excellent project management skills, with a proven ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong presentation skills to gain buy-in from internal stakeholders and external vendors
- A customer-first mindset and a passion for delivering outstanding retail and event experiences within the luxury sector
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; confident in presenting to leadership and negotiating with vendors and stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the flexibility to adapt and find creative solutions under pressure
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with marketing tools like social media and CRM platforms is a plus
- An ability to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings or weekends, during event installations or launch periods
